Why Use a Tiller?

The soil structure which is hard and compact is not easy to break down easily. And there comes a tiller to rescue from this situation by cutting through the hard soil easily and making the job much easier for you to grow healthy plants or vegetables in your garden.

It is difficult to cut through hard soil if you do not use a tiller. But while using a tiller machine, it easily breaks up the soils crusts, and losses the soil and makes them suitable to grow plants easily. If your garden soil is hard then it becomes for plants to receive oxygen and nutrients by moving their roots through the soil and thus become weak or die. And, a tiller makes the soil suitable for cultivating healthy plants or vegetables by making the soil hospitable to plant life.

Tips for Tilling Soil

Here, in below, we have mentioned some tips to till your soil-

If you wish to plant crops such as lettuce, cabbage, broccoli, spinach, etc. which are considered cool weather crops, then the best time to tilling your garden soil is in spring.

Do not till the soil if it is wet or damp. If you do so, it will damage your garden soil’s structure. To ensure that the soil is ready enough, take a handful of soil and squeeze them hard, if the soil crumbles instead of falling apart you can trill it.

Do not over till your soil because it will also degrade your soil structure.  If you want to control weed or want loose hard soil to grow plants in them then till the soil otherwise do not do this. Also, you need to till the soil if there is a need of mixing fertilizer in the soil or for water penetration.

Before you use the machine make sure to remove old roots, garbage, or big rocks or boulders from the ground. Otherwise, these things will degrade the machine when these come into the way of the machine.

Before tilling, ensure that you are using the right tiller depending on the need for your grounds. To till the hard soil, you need a high-duty tiller. But the soils which go through immediate cultivation use a light-duty tiller for that ground.

To loosen the soils easily and quickly go through the whole area by making several parallels, straight and overlapping passes.

Before tilling make sure to inspect if the machine’s tines need to be sharpened or not.
